Terms and Conditions

By purchasing from Parco, you agree to all terms listed on this page and any terms provided by Parco.

Additionally, by purchasing a protective backpack from Parco, you confirm that:

  • You have not previously been convicted of a felony. It is unlawful in certain states for convicted felons to purchase or possess body armor.
  • You do not live in the state of Connecticut. It is unlawful to sell body armor in Connecticut online.
  • If you live in the state of Louisiana, you understand that it is unlawful for anyone except a student to wear or possess the backpack on school premises, on a school bus, or at school-sponsored events.
  • You are in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws that govern a purchase of this type of product.
  • You are not affiliated with a criminal organization.

Further details on these legal restrictions:

The type of protection in the Parco backpack is a soft panel of ballistic armor. The panel that offers the ballistic protection is referred to herein as “panel,” “ballistic panel,” and “protective panel.” Federal and state law in the United States prohibits any individual convicted of a violent felony to own or possess body armor, including the ballistic panel in the Parco backpack. The online sale of this type of protective armor is allowed in all U.S. states with the exception of Connecticut, where such a transaction cannot occur online or via mail. (Accordingly, we do not ship to Connecticut.)

Further, the state of Louisiana allows only students to wear or possess bullet-resistant backpacks on school premises, on school buses, or at school-sponsored events.

Additionally, each consumer is expected to consult federal, state, and local laws to ensure compliance prior to purchase.

In accordance with the Marketplace Fairness Act & Remote Transactions Parity Act, all buyers are liable for all federal, state and local taxes due. Parco collects and handles sales tax for customers from the state of Texas, which is where we maintain a physical presence.

The protective panel, which is a type of body armor, cannot and will not protect against any ammunition or weapon having a higher caliber, strength, or velocity than the panel’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Level III-A rating. Ballistic protection is never 100% guaranteed. Specifically, body armor is ‘bullet resistant’ not ‘bullet proof.’ No armor is 100% bulletproof, even against threats in the NIJ Level III-A category. Among other things, specialized armor-piercing bullets and ultra-high velocity ammunition may not be stopped by armor. No soft body armor will protect against most rifle or long-gun ammunition. Always read the documentation accompanying body armor to understand the level of protection that it is designed to offer. Also, soft-panel, bullet-resistant body armor (i.e., the protective panel) is not resistant to knives or sharp projectiles including arrows, spears, throwing knives, etc.

The protective panel included in the Parco backpack meets the standards of the NIJ. Specifically, this panel has an NIJ Level III-A rating, which means it is resistant to most handgun ammunition including .22SR, .22LR, .25, .32, .38, .380, .357 Magnum, 9mm Full Metal Jacket, .40 Cal., .45 Cal., and .44 Magnum. The panel is not intended to offer protection for threats above this level. For further details, refer to the NIJ website ‘Body Armor Performance Standards’ at

The panel should be placed in the backpack with the side labeled “Strike Face” facing away from the user’s body as he/she is wearing the backpack. The “Strike Face” should face a potential threat, not the person wearing the backpack. Further, the panel should be inserted only in the specialized compartment of the Parco backpack and securely zipped for stability. The panel is not intended to be used in any of the following circumstances, and it has not been tested for NIJ Level III-A rating in any of the following circumstances: placement in any other compartment of the Parco backpack except the specially designed body-armor compartment; use in any other backpack, bag, or garment; or use in any other manner. You are responsible to ensure that your protective panel is properly inserted and installed.

Do not modify the Parco backpack or the protective panel. Any modification to the panel or backpack may affect the product’s anti-ballistic resistance. Do not re-use the product if it has been shot, stabbed, punctured, ripped, cut, slashed, torn, crushed, abraded, or burned, or if it has been subject to any shooting-level forces. Discontinue use immediately if you notice any wear or imperfection.

The protective panel is encased in water-resistant material. If the panel becomes dirty, you may wipe the panel with a slightly damp, soft cloth. Do not bleach, dry clean, hand wash, or machine wash the backpack or panel. Be sure that the panel remains clean by wiping with a slightly damp, soft cloth if needed. Further, do not store the panel or backpack in extreme temperatures, moist conditions, in direct sunlight, or near liquids or chemicals.

Each protective panel has a shelf-life of approximately 5 years. The date of expiration is noted on the protective panel. At the time of expiration, the panel should be discarded immediately and replaced with a new panel.
